Badminton
We use the following levels for badminton:
At levels A, B and C we play with feather shuttles. Players bring their own shuttles or can buy them during the tournament.
At level A, a Category 1 player (Eredivisie) may participate if they do not partner with another Category 1 player in doubles/mixed.
Please register at least at the level you play this season. Registering lower is not allowed, higher is allowed.
Padel
We use the following three levels for padel:
It is allowed for women to participate in the mens double in padel
Padel balls will be provided by the organisation.
BC Drop Shot organises a one-day tournament where you can play at your own level together with your doubles and/or mixed partner.
New this year is that we also organise a padel tournament. For padel we do not distinguish between men and women; you simply register as a doubles pair.
You can register only once per discipline (so not two doubles in one day, but for example one mixed doubles and one level doubles). You can register for a maximum of 2 disciplines in total.
In badminton you may not register in multiple levels. Between padel and badminton you may register in different levels, for example level A doubles in badminton and level B doubles in padel.
You can participate in both the padel and badminton tournament! Please note that in badminton you may still only play one discipline.
We use the Swiss Ladder system for the tournament.
The Swiss Ladder system is a mathematical formula that uses a computer to determine the next match based on the current standings. Typically number 1 plays number 2, number 3 plays number 4, and so on. If players have already met, the next best pairing is chosen.
The advantage of this system is that players gradually meet opponents of similar strength. There are no knock-outs โ everyone plays the same number of matches. After three rounds a reliable ranking already emerges.
Badminton
Matches are played using the standard scoring system (rally point to 21, at least 2 points difference, up to a maximum of 30).
In rounds 1, 2 and 3 each match consists of exactly two games (a draw is possible). Finals are played as best-of-three.
Padel
Matches are played using the standard padel scoring with Golden Point. At 40โ40 a Golden Point is played instead of advantage. The pair that wins the Golden Point wins the game. Before the Golden Point, the receiving team chooses on which side they want to receive.
In rounds 1, 2 and 3 each match consists of exactly two sets (a draw is possible). Finals, if played, are best-of-three.
Saturday 29 August 2026 (09:00 โ 21:00): badminton tournament.
Saturday 29 August 2026 (09:00 โ 18:00): padel tournament.
Because we use the Swiss Ladder system, the order is as follows:
If you only play mixed, you start early but finish earlier. If you only play doubles, you start later. If you play both, your day will of course be a bit longer.
The padel schedule is smaller, so there are no separate finals. In the schedule we assume 45 minutes per padel match and 30 minutes per badminton match.
You register for the Summer Tournament via the registration form on this website. The final registration date is 19 December 2025, or earlier if the tournament is full. After 19 December 2025 cancellation is no longer possible and no refund will be given. A registration is only valid once both partners have registered. If there are more entries than places, a reserve list will be used. The minimum number of pairs for a padel event is 4.
